[TRANS] Oricon Style - Junho

An honest talk that reaches his inner self goes off. Reaching to the current matured side of him as an artist!

—You released “FEEL” album as JUNHO (From 2PM), what are the things you became conscious of while working on this album, a big difference from the previous piece of work?

Junho: I think the important point is that I want to show a musically matured side of me compared to the last time, this one is more dynamic and active, and I made this wanting to show the side of me which I haven’t in the first album.

—The reason and the meaning of “FEEL” as the title track?

Junho: Because the word “FEEL” came into mind first. There is a word that equally expresses Feel in  Korea (in Japan, it’s Feeling) though, I don’t know for what reason that the word appeared but since then it stayed and wouldn’t leave my mind.
Then I made the title track, I completed a song which can be divided into various parts, one that can have a playful element and one in which a longing can be felt in the chorus. There are many stimulating and straight songs recently but I described it as I focused on properly putting a fashionable element and a melody that can arouse that longing for 80s, 90s’ sensitivity. New stuffs together with a nostalgic music, those are the sound concept of this album.

—You are really experiencing a solo tour, the things you feel with the fans during that influenced you for the title track to be named “FEEL”, don’t they?

Junho: Of course they do! I think it was a chance to motivate me in wanting to have a better concert in a bigger venue, and also a chance for me to be able to upgrade my step musically.

—With the overall theme, do you have a message in common to convey?

Junho: Basically, it’s something that I currently think, and currently feel, although it’s filled with the things I want to convey to everyone, the big theme is “love”.
I think “love” has various forms and emotions, but I tried to express various categories of love in each song. In “FEEL”, there is a line of “To change monochrome days by painting it with colours”, it is the lyric that I like the most from the album and I think that it is the one that express my message the best. A sensation like being shaken out of an ordinary daily life, I’m describing that sensation when meeting a certain person.

—You worked on all of the tracks on this album, but was there any distress during the process?

Junho: Strangely there was almost none of necessarily difficult songs, I really made it with fun. The uniquely difficult one during the recording was “Turn It Up”. It was hard to pronounce the quick rap in Japanese.

—There is a line of The world stops the time in the lyric of “FEEL”, if you could stop the time, when would you go back to?

Junho: We were asked a similar question when we were having schedules as 2PM before, I remember Nichkhun hyung answered (that he wanted to go to) dinosaur era, but I think it would be no fun if I could stop the time. Because, nothing else move except for me. That’s totally no fun (laughs). Rather than going back to the past as the time stops, I think it will be more fun to go to the next 10 years in the future.

—If Junho are to listen this album in the next 10 years, how do you think you will respond?

Junho: It’s cute, huh~ (laughs).

—What do you mean?

Junho: Because I’m likely to keep making music like this even after 10 years, I think it’s obvious that I will be matured along with more various sides of me by then. While I think that my current sensitivity and youthfulness are fresh, on the contraty, I think I’d probably be embarassed to see it as I will lose both of them (after 10 years).

—There is a line of A little devil whom I can’t take my eyes off in the lyric of “Dangerous”, do you think you are a little devil type?

Junho: No, I am not.

—You’re rather like one though.

Junho: There is no word to express “little devil” at all in Korea. Does it means devilishness? Or is it someone hard to handle?

—It indeed means devilishness of your appearance that captivate fans when they go to watch your concert.

Junho: Ah~ That’s a relief. Because I think I’m more of a bear or puppy type rather than fox or cat, I thought you’re talking about someone who is hard to handle (laughs). Because I’m an honest person, I can’t cope well or be worldly-wise. Although I’m like a bear who answers everything honestly, it’s pretty good to be said as devilish, huh (laughs).

—In addition, who do you think is the most little devil amongst the member?

Junho: Nichkhun hyung. He fits any clothes he wears with his outstanding proportion doesn’t he? His existence itself is a little devil already.

—And again, there is a line of As A lonely night when I’m alone in the lyric of “Don’t Go~ No No No~”, what will you do to soothe your loneliness?

Junho: I don’t get lonely even when I’m alone at night. Because I have many things to do, there are many times when time passes in a blink of an eye when I focusedly work on the things I have to finish until 3 or 4 AM in the morning. It gets to the point where I think I’m lacking of time. And I usually watch TV or movies until 6 or 7 and went to bed together with the rising sun.

—When you’re lonely, what genred movies do you watch?

Junho: A thrilling action movie would be good. When I watched a Japanese movie titled “Love Complex”, I felt like I want to date too~

—Like the title of “Don’t Go~ No No No~”, if your lover say Don’t go and hold you, what will you do?

Junho: What is the situation in specific? That’s important. When we fight? Or when we are breaking up? Or simply leave the house?

—Please answer to them all (laughs).

Junho: Ahahaha. Okay I get it. First of all, when we are just dating, if she holds me when it’s the time for me to go home already, I think I will stay unless I’m going for work. But if I’m busy at that time, I think I will go after persuading her. If she holds me back when we’re having a fight, I won’t go. Because I think it’s important to properly talk to her and to make up with her. But, in the case of farewell, if she holds me back after we agree to break up, I think I will go without words.

—By the way, is there a rule set between 2PM members?

Junho: We ever set a rule of 10,000 won fine each 1 minute of being late to the practice. I ever got fined once, it was 1 minute before the gathering time on my watch but the studio clock said I was 1 minute late (bitter laughs).

—So you unwillingly got fined for it.

Junho: I reluctantly paid it because the members said I should have adjusted it to the clock at the studio since we had to come to the studio itself. We said we’d use the money that was gathered to go eat together but where did it go..... (laughs) We had the rule for a week but as nobody was late for the first 3 days, at some point everyone started to even forget that there was such a rule.

—Who was the member that paid the fine the most?

Junho: It was obvious but I can’t remember. How about you ask it in the next 2PM’s interview? And I want to find out where the money went by then (laughs).

—I understand. Then there is a line of If I were to wish for a miracle, what is a happening that you think as a miracle?

Junho: To be able to perform in Budokan. And, I feel thankful for everytime I receive the unexpected events from the fans, I always think of them as miracles. Because this album and concerts contain that feeling of mine, I hope everyone will look forward to it. The solo tour emphasised on the performances or dance, also as it will be really dynamic and powerful concert from the beginning with the various new things I put into, I will be happy if many people watch it.

—At last, there is a line of Remains unknown forever in the lyric of “You & Me”, please tell us do what do you think has changed and has not from you since you’re young.

Junho: The thing that hasn’t changed is, the mole at the back of my neck (laughs). For the thing that has changed, I think everything about my appearance has changed. But I think my personality has not. Especially my short temper, my swiftness. Also, I think my eye smile when I smile/laugh hasn’t changed as well.

—Again, if you are to choose a member out of 2PM who changed the most after the debut?

Junho: Everyone did. I think everyone has been refined. Ah, except for Nichkhun hyung (laughs). When you get refined as if you become like another person in Korea, it’s said that you have become a dragon, but Nichkhun hyung has been one even before the debut. So I think it must be true when we said Nichkhun hyung became a dinosaur (laughs).
