[TRANS] Hanryu PIA 2015 0131 - Taecyeon

Taecyeon has been steadily establishing himself in acting through drama and movie casting while flying around the world as a member of 2PM.

His latest project was “Wonderful Days”, a family drama which takes us back to see the meaning of a family.

Although it was his first to challenge such a long piece of work with 50 episodes, he splendidly acted the role of a single father who speaks in accent and has a relationship with a non-blood related family, he once again broadens his acting through this workpiece.

Growing as an actor through his first role of a father

Taecyeon showed more of his manly charms after playing a role as a father for the first time in the drama Wonderful Days.

What he said in the press conference of the drama about the father role he’d take for the first time.

“Since this will be my first experience, I worried whether I will be able to pull it off but the role is too charming for me to give up so I took it as a challenge.”

Taecyeon himself was enamored by the workpiece in which he played the role of a high-spirited rascal, Kang Donghee.

Donghee is a boy who was left by his real parents when he was a baby and later was raised by Soshim (Yoon Yeojung).

When he was in his 3rd year of High School, he became a father of twin babies after his one night stand mistake with Jungah who was in a similar situation like his but he did not have the confident in him to raise the kids so he hid the fact and acted like an older brother with a huge age gap to them. Taecyeon’s value and standing as an actor have become clearer by doing great at expressing such a demanding character.

Donghee whom Taecyeon acted in the drama is a clumsy hot tempered character who takes action without thinking but what kind of a father could he really be if he had been able to become one?

He laughed and answered, “I want to say, he will become a good father for sure.”

So Taecyeon’s ideal father figure is biological father.

“For me, my father is the best father so I think I’m a good father if I could become like my father.

When I was young, my father always took me and my sister to play at many places during the school break. I have a lot of memories of us together, be it playing badminton, mountain climbing or just playing.

But now that I have had my own work after being an adult, looking back I came to realize how precious a day off is to an adult. I felt touched all over again by how great my father is that he used that precious days off for us.”

A drama that draws a conflict of a family together with a perfect Gyeongsang-do accent.

Drama “Wonderful Days” is a workpiece that draws a conflict of a family in Gyeongju as the setting.

That’s why Taecyeon had a study on his own to get used to the accent even before the filming started.

“I stayed for about a week in Busan before the filming and I studied the natural accent of the people there.

I also asked a favor from my friend who was born in Busan to check my accent. Actually I kind of used accent too in my first acting gig but it was my first time to speak my lines in accent for such a long time and to be honest, it was hard.”

Despite acting a rough man in the drama, Taecyeon’s friendliness with other casts is well-known.

“Unlike his role, Taecyeon in reality is calm and he doesn’t seek a fight with anyone, I have never once seen him angry at the filming site.
He really smiles everyday.” (Yoon Yeojung who acted Mother Soshim)

“Completely different from his role in the drama, he is gentle and kind-hearted, he also bought us meals (laughs) He’s an oppa who imitated cats or joked around at the filming site.” (Hong Hwari who Dongjoo, Taecyeon’s daughter)

“Although his character in the drama is ignorant and rough, he is thoughtful like a real father in reality.” (Choi Kwonsoo who DongWon, Taecyeon’s son)

These 4 people showed their harmonious family image to the Japanese fans when they participated in “Wonderful Days Premium Event” which was held in Japan in last November.
During the event, there was a corner where they had to reenact scenes from the drama and Taecyeon chose his most favorite scene is the one where Donghee caught a cold and asked Soshim to nurse him.

“Donghee knows the fact that Soshim is not his biological mother. But that scene displays well it is because Donghee sincerely believe that Soshim is his real mother that he can ask to be pampered like that.

Soshim’s motherly love acted but Yoon Yeojung senior was so greatly expressed that the scene left impression on my heart.”

He also said that he got a lot of help from a great senior like Yoon Yeojung at the filming site.

“She was a great senior who goes with the title of ‘teacher’ so I coud not help but to feel nervous when we met for the first time but she was so friendly and she gave me comfort.

When I was practicing my lines alone, she would play the opposite role at some parts for me or she would give me advices about acting.”

To participate in a Japanese event as an actor.

“It is a fresh thing as well as an honour to particpate in an event as an actor because I have always came to Japan with 2PM members.”

“Although I was a bit flustered when asked to act on stage directly, I was happy that the fans gave a great response.

To participate in the event as an actor, though it was my first time, I would like to participate again if I have the chance in the future.”

[TRANS] Tenasia Interview - Chansung

2PM Chansung’s ‘Real Time’ Started Flowing (Interview Part 1)

Chansung is a man who wants to run slowly and steadily. He never thought either about running ahead of 2PM’s popularity or about passing the basic course with a free-ride using his title of an ‘idol’. Chansung is only running without putting energy but with sincerity. He has been in a clear demeanor for music and acting while running these past 1-2 years. Now the young man who has been running while looking what lies in the future, will now stop and look into what he exactly wants. Chansung’s real time started flowing.

Q. An interview right after you came back from attending ‘Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)’ held in Hongkong. 2PM World Tour was also overlapping with your movie promotion. Have you ever thought that you’d become a man in your 20 having such a busy schedule.

Chansung: Absolutely no. (laughs) I couldn’t predict it at all.

Q. What is this current busy schedule for. An investment for your future? A work you enjoy doing? Or just something you eventually have to do because it is a schedule?

Chansung: I think everything of my schedule does have its meaning. It’d be hard for you if only work your body without such a thought. And also, I’m able to concentrate more on the work given to me by thinking ‘To be doing this kind of job is the goal of my life’.

Q. Does that mean you have now felt like ‘A career as a singer is the path I have to walk on’?

Chansung: It would be more exact to put that kind of thought in more definite words. I’ve debuted for 9 years. (7 years as 2PM) I have encountered many problems in that 9 years. My thoughts turned negative whenever it’s hard on me. Sometimes when I felt sorry to the staff, I would think ‘Do these people really care for me?’ At certain moment, I did realize that those thoughts are useless. But rather than negative thoughts, I would address them as poison that gnaw at me. After I realized that they brought negative influences to my mind, my point-of-view on things would change.

Q. Even when you realize that those negative thoughts are useless, it won’t be easy to change them. How did you start changing them.

Chansung: There is a psychology teacher who gives mental care at the company. Everyone in JYP starting from trainees to employees receive mental care as compensation but I’m originally an optimistic person. On the day when I met the teacher for the first time, he gave a checked mark on the self-diagnosis for mental health checklist. After I saw it, our conversation went “You’re happy eventhough you’re working right?” “Yes” “No discontent right?” “Yes” “You don’t need any particular mental care, and you seem to be interested in psychology so let’s study together”. Since then, I started learning psychology with him. It has been 3 years since then.

Q. I wonder if you’re interested in psychology because you’re curious about other people’s mental state, or because you want to know your own.

Chansung: Both of them. I usually have many things I question about myself. Worries like ‘Why did I act like that?’ ‘Why did I have such thought then?’ came to me periodically. At such time, I’d listen to the teacher’s advice, read the book he recommeded and my tangle thoughts would be settled.

Q. Do you also feel a bit comfortable about other people too? Like figuring the mental state of others.

Chansung: I’m not able to see through others’ state of mind just yet. But, I’m able to understand deeper. For example, let’s say there is this someone who does a very particular action. Then I’d think ‘That person will also get recognition through that action’

Q. You said that thinking ‘This career is a path I have to walk on’ won’t get you more than 1 or 2 years so I wonder was there a possibility for you to have a different job before.

Chansung: I didn’t have such thought at all. It’s like I was just working hard. Now is different. My attitude toward my job have become more set.

Q. Acting is also there on your path and actually you became an actor before a singer.

Chansung: True. I was in ‘Unstoppable Highkick’.

Q. In recent 2 months, you appeared in two movies, ‘Red Carpet’ and ‘Deoksuri 5 Brothers’. Before the interest died down for one movie, another one had already been released, I think that could be either unfortunate or on the contrary, aggressively good. Which one is it.

Chansung: I filmed for ‘Red Carpet’ in late summer right after I was finished with ‘7th Grade Civil Servant’ (2013). Not long after, I started filming for ‘Deoksuri 5 Brothers’. I actually didn’t know that the release of these two movies would be so close to each other. With the releases were postponed I thought none of them would be released this year. I feel relieved as both of them were released like this.

A confession through SNS to a girl you like?! The reason is?
After your clothing, we will try to check your inner charms next. First, “A confession to a girl you like. How will you do it and what will you say?”

Taecyeon: Yes yes! I will confess by saying "Date with me" while holding hands and walking at the Han River. Like a man!

Junho: Too ordinary. And there are many bugs during this season.

Wooyoung: It's not like Han River is just anywhere, right.

Taecyeon: Then, I want to confess at a movie theater.

Nichkhun: Are you going to rent the whole teather?

Taecyeon: There's that another movie preview being played before the actual movie, isn't it. A video made by me will appear at that moment.

Junho: It's too much though........

Chansung: It's extreme....

Wooyoung: If you do such thing for a confession, what will you do for a marriage?!

Minjun: Ah I thought of a good method. By applying Taecyeon's thought, then it will be watching a France movie. The movie will be one that shows parent-child love and I will shout "I will be the father of your kids!" at the end.

Taecyeon: That would be a propose, wouldn't it.

Minjun: Isn't that what we're talking about?

Nichkhun: The current theme is how to confess.

Minjun: Through SNS.

Chansung: What? ㅋㅋㅋ Aren't you just randomly saying it?

Minjun: It would be a bit embarassing to say 'let's date' right. Won't it be good to date naturally when you like each other?

Taecyeon: That..... Aren't you saying that because you don't want to make an anniversary event?

Minjun: I didn't even say a thing about not wanting to do it though!

Nichkhun: So you feel bothered by it?ㅋㅋㅋ

Junho: You're a bad guyㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
