The still hidden man’s scent.
Marriage Blue Ok Taecyeon
Actor Ok Taecyeon (25)’s self, when he acts and
when he pulls off masculinity and tough image with 2PM members on the stage,
are quite different.
Acting as a pure man in drama “Cinderella’s Step
Sister” (2010, KBS2) and “Dream High” (2011, KBS2),
And acting as a youthful detective lead role
while showing off romantic sense as well in the recently ended drama “Who Are
You” (tvN).
It’s also different from his role in his first
movie “Marriage Blue” (Released on 21st November, Director Hong Jiyoung).
Taecyeon, in the film which talks about the
stories of the 4th people before their upcoming marriage, acted as a star chef,
Weoncheol, who had been together in a 7 years relationship with Somi (Lee Yeonhee)
and couldn’t rather tie her shaky heart because of his love.
One who hit the 6 points out 10 points for his
acting in his first movie, Taecyeon even composed and wrote lyric for the
movie’s theme song.
Q: The reason
you want to take the role, Weoncheol
A: I read the scenario and I felt like reading
one part of an interesting novel.
So there’s a realistic content of story like
this about marriage. With that, I thought of it as an interesting thing. The
thing I like the most is Weoncheol’s last choice.
Q: Is there a
similarity between you and Weoncheol
A: We’re
similar. We’re both perky, and also can’t express ourselves well.
I can’t say words about love either it’s to a
girlfriend or family, even to fans. I felt the chemistry with Weoncheol.
Q: Amongst the
four couples, as you’re the only one with the love triangle you only get a
small amout. Isn’t that a pity.
A: I don’t feel greed for a bigger part. I also
thought that if Weoncheol got bigger part, the movie flow couldn’t be helped.
Being a singer from 2PM, I know group members’
teamwork and harmony are important things. It also applies to acting.
Q: While you’re
filming this film as you’re going back and forth to drama “Who Are You” filming
though.
A: I directly went down with the drama the day
after. I was greatly burdened. It’s because Weoncheol’s and Geonwoo’s character
are so different.
But, I have came to try enjoying the process of
singer Taecyeon being Weoncheol in the film and Geonwoo in the drama.
I also learned about each of them’s different
cases. Because of the burden to try hard, I thought of “self-destruction can’t
happen.”
Q: What kind of
change do you give to each character
A: For the
acting, it’s to maximise one of my part.
I worked hard to show a self-respected image in
“Marriage Blue” while doing smirks and acting a cheerful character in “Who Are
You”
Q: Is there any
occassion you regret while filming “Marriage Blue”
A: I think it’s filmed too overflown. The
character itself is like that but even so, it’s a regret that the character
isn’t calm.
Q: What did you
prepare for the character Weoncheol
A: I gathered stories from people who have been
dating for a long time. I heard a lot of story in which because people are too
comfortable with their lovers, they become like a family.
I also heard the story in which their expression
of love don’t actually reach their loved ones. It’s just a part of life.
Q: Awhile of
that, you acted as a chef though, are you good at cooking
A: I’m good. I sometimes cook for my parents and
the members. Our members like Ddeokbokki (spicy rice cake) and
Kimchi-bokkeumbab (Kimchi fried rice).
I heard a saying that I’m not that bad at
mastering it. On the contrary, I don’t have any confidence in washing the
dishes. If I receive any love, I’ll have do either cooking or doing the dish
(Laugh)
Q: For this
movie, you lost weight of 10 kg.
A: I thought that busted muscles don’t fit a
chef. I stopped weight training for 3 months and only did aerobic workout. I
also reduced my food.
Q: The members
will see that effort of yours visually.
A: I had already received “Ok Taecyeon is tough”
remark when I was called ‘Jjit-Taecyeon’. At that time, I was toughly
developing abs. This time I’m losing weight, the members are like “you’re doing
it again, huh”
Q: How was the
acting atmosphere with your partner, Lee Yeonhee
A: I knew she has a particular character but
she’s open-minded. She has the charm to give a sense of comfort to her
opponent. Because we’re at the same age, we became friends.
That’s why we can act with each other
comfortably. I’m happy to hear Yeonhee being called as my partner. Isn’t she
pretty? (Laugh)
Q: What do you
think of Weoncheol’s line “Are you living with fun? You’re living with
companionship right”
A: I agree. When I get married, I think I’ll
decide on a person I have known for a long time, one I already know what kind
of a person she is.
It’s not only about power of love and a bump in
marriage doesn’t determine the character of the marriage itself. And again, a
long relationship isn’t only companionship and fairness but isn’t it because of
love that it exists.
Q: Amidst of
that, are you able to understand the problem Somi experienced on Weoncheol whom
she had long dated
A: I do. When people get married on the
condition out of love, won’t it be unhappy. Even if I were Somi, I would have
been like that as well.
Q: In the end
how did you interpret Weoncheol’s feeling
A: Although I think Weoncheol acted differently
just before he’s going to marry Somi, I figured out later that it’s not like
that. Seeing from the people who have been long dating whom I listened from,
it’s rather easier for them to break up.
Q: Seems like it
will be good if Weoncheol’s inner pain were revealed a bit more
A: The director’s intention is not to make Somi
into a bad woman. If Weoncheol were suffering, Somi would be as if she’s
chasing after happiness, won’t it make her a bad woman.
It’s not a movie that only grasps Somi and Weoncheol’s
episode.
Q: Be it a date
or marriage, I think the important thing is not to feel boredom.
A: I think it’s the most dangerous if we get so
comfortable with each other. It feels like you don’t need to do surprise event
as your partner is always prepared for getting surprised with something.
And you also surely have to deliver your
sincerity. Rather than balloons or flying doves, it’s even more important to
know what the woman wants.
Q: Is there a
failure point of not so good date expressed.
A: I heard a point of being bored. Eventhough
they tried hard, they can’t be boyfriends who make things interesting. Ah,
suddenly it’s sad.
Q: Did the
thought of ‘because of that experience, I will try hard to change’ ever show
up?
A: Even I don’t know a bit, I don’t have the
thought of ‘I have to change completely’. A woman who likes this current side
of me will appear someday.
Q: Do you have a
similar part with Somi who was in a flows of character being fascinated by a
new man
A: It’s a good thing for the old ladies? The old
ladies will like it as my character is bright one.
Even so it’s awkward in front of the young
ladies. Playing around anyone while making jokes flows of chekiness, it’s
embarassing.
Q: With that
seems like you’re able to act complexedly
A: I’m nervous
in front of female partners. Since young, I’m not that good in front of
females. I never made a move on the girl I like in school days.
Although I have a bright character, I’m on the
timid side. While I’m acting I’m not that nervous though, but again because of
the female partner I become nervous.
Relievingly I did it comfortably with senior So
E-hyun and Lee Yeonhee. I encountered many complexion, but I believe I’ll be
able to overcome it someday.
Q: While you’re
in the middle of showing your lovey dovey side with Somi, the thing you surely
want to do with your lover next time
A: While cooking
and hugging, and feeding food, and chatting, I surely want to do those.
Q: Does your
opinion about marriage change after filming this movie
A: Before, I surely wanted to get married. After
filming a realistic movie of marriage, I became more deperate.
In the film, I got to the point of being able to
overcome the realistic problems, I surely want to meet the person I love.
Q: What kind of
propose do you want to do
A: I want to do a propose at Marcopolo Square in
Venice, Italy.
After negotiating with a quartet group, I want
to play the song both of us like at the Square corner.
When my lover says “Oh? This is the song we like
though” I will do a surprise propose. Although I’ve never gone to Venice, I’ve
imagined it.
Q: When do you
want to get married
A: I want to get married at early 30 at most.
Although I think it will be sad if I don’t know what to talk with my kids when
they’re born as there’s a really 3 generation gap.
Q: You said
before that in order to be out of the “beastly idol” image, you chose the
acting role.
A: It’s for not being limited to one image only.
I don’t want my image in acting followed my image on stage.
Although I’ll be able to act a tough man charater, I think I
want to try different genres and characters.
Q: Amongst 2PM
members, Junho received a good feedback for “Cold Eyes” Is it a stimulant for
you
A: Of course. Even on the stage, in front of the
camera, it’s a mutual competition. Another member, Chansung, will also make
appearance in the film “Red Carpet.”
Q: A director
you want to try working with
A: Anyway if we talk about my wishlist, it’s
director Bong Junho. His movie is always new. It’s a thing needed in
entertainment, and I think he’s a good director at it.
Q: What was the
teenager Ok Taecyeon’s worry.
A: Future plan? I’m doing activities amidst the
anxiety of the possibility to fall down in one moment. As you see we’re a
group, it’s not about if one person does good then it will be all good.
External skill also gives influence to either a
success or a failure. I actually saw many of that case around me.
“I wouldn’t succeed in whether music, drama, or
film everytime. It’s a fight of chance.” I always worry about what I should do
to increase my chances.
